The farm’s published 2026 schedule lists these October hours:
- Friday: 5–10 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m.–10 p.m.
- Sunday: 10 a.m.–9 p.m.
Explore the pumpkin patch, visit the farm animals, or spend the afternoon enjoying rides and seasonal treats. After dark, Spooktacular Nights brings a spookier side of the farm to life.

Charting the Stars at Purtis Creek: October 3
Looking for a quieter evening outdoors? Charting the Stars at Purtis Creek State Park runs Saturday, October 3, from 7–8:15 p.m.
Join a ranger to make a star chart, hear stories about the night sky, and learn about protecting dark skies. Bring walking shoes, bug spray, water, and a red-light flashlight if you have one.

Canton Autumn Festival: October 10
Spend a Saturday on the downtown square at the 25th Annual Canton Autumn Festival, happening October 10, from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Another First Monday Weekend: October 29–November 1
There are two Trade Days weekends that touch October this year. The November market runs Thursday, October 29, through Sunday, November 1, following First Monday’s regular schedule.

Nighttime Glow Fishing at Purtis Creek: October 30
Try something a little different on Halloween weekend. Nighttime Glow Fishing takes place at Purtis Creek State Park Friday, October 30, from 7:30–8:30 p.m.
A ranger leads the program at the day-use fishing pier. Loaner gear is available, personal gear is welcome, and no fishing license is required for this activity.
The program is included with park admission, listed at $5 per person age 13 and older. Bring a flashlight, bug spray, water, and a chair for a comfortable evening by the lake. Texas Parks & Wildlife Department
Halloween at Purtis Creek: October 31
Purtis Creek has two Halloween activities on its October calendar:
- Skins & Skulls at 4 p.m.: Explore the park’s collection and learn about local wildlife.
- Trunk or Treat from 7–8:30 p.m.: Bring the family for an evening of costumes and candy.
Trunk or Treat meets at the day-use boat ramp. The organizer lists free entry for trick-or-treaters and people participating by handing out candy. Family-friendly costumes are encouraged, and minors must have adult supervision.
